Student Chromebooks

Why Chromebooks? Why Now?

Did you know that according to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics, "More than 50% of today’s jobs require some degree of technology skills, and experts say that percentage will increase to 70% by 2020"?

To prepare students for this future, starting in the 2017-18 school year, all high school students will be checked out a Chromebook laptop thanks to the voter-approved 2014 Technology Levy.  This access to technology will help students grow as digital citizens.  Teachers will have students use the Chromebooks in ways that increase their abilities to collaborate, communicate, thinking critically, and be creative.  Students will take their device home daily to continue their learning and to charge it.

How do you get started?

Students will need to have two forms completed, signed, and returned by a guardian in order to check out their Chromebook from the library.

Responsible Use Form
This form contains expectations for use and care of the Chromebook.

Protection Plan Form
This form explains the insurance available in case of loss or damage.  The Protection Plan is optional, but the form is mandatory.

Students will need to take their protection plan form to the ASB office to pay for or decline the protection plan. After paying or declining the protection plan, forms must be turned into the library prior to being checked out a Chromebook.

When will your student check-out their Chromebook?

During the first or second week of school, students will go with their English teacher to the library to check out their Chromebooks.  Students who have not submitted both the Responsible Use form and Protection Plan form will not be permitted to check out until the forms are returned to school.
