We were notified this morning that Todd Beamer High School has canceled the remainder of its varsity football season. As a result, our Homecoming football game scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026, has been canceled. Unfortunately, due to the short notice, we are unable to secure another opponent for tomorrow evening.
While we are disappointed that the football game will not take place, many of our Homecoming traditions will continue as planned, with a few adjustments:
• Homecoming Parade – Thursday, October 1: The parade will continue as scheduled, beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Buckley. All groups and participants scheduled for the parade will still take part. We encourage our community to come out, line Main Street, and celebrate our students and schools!
• WRHS Homecoming Dance – Saturday, October 3: The Homecoming Dance will continue as scheduled.
• WRHS Band & Homecoming Royalty: The WRHS Band halftime performance and recognition of our WRHS Homecoming Royalty will be moved to our only remaining home game this season, Thursday, October 15, during halftime of our Senior Night football game against Kent Meridian High School. Our senior football players and cheerleaders will also be recognized that evening as originally planned for Senior Night. Homecoming class floats will not be part of the October 15 halftime activities but will be in the parade tomorrow.
Homecoming Week is always a special time in the White River School District, and we recognize that the cancellation of tomorrow night’s Homecoming football game is disappointing, but we appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding as we make the best of an unexpected situation.
Most importantly, Homecoming Week continues! We look forward to seeing our community come together for the parade and continuing an incredible week filled with school spirit, tradition, and White River pride.
